It’s been over five years since CM Punk parted ways with WWE, and Punk told his story during a tell all episode of Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast.
During the podcast Punk explained that he was given his termination papers on his wedding day in 2014 when he was set to marry his current wife, AJ Lee.
CM Punk is certainly on a long list of people who have received termination papers from WWE, and earlier this week it was revealed that Eric Bischoff has been removed from his role as Executive Director of SmackDown.
Following Eric’s WWE departure, the Twitter account for his 83 Weeks podcast posted a photo of a shirt with the words “Fired” in the style of a FedEx logo, along with the following caption:
“This is a completely random tweet and unrelated to anything in the news… but there are “Fired” T-shirts available at http://EricBischoff.com”
CM Punk then responded with, “Wedding day or nah?”
Recently Punk confirmed that he tried out for a role on WWE’s new studio show, WWE Backstage on FS1, but it’s unclear at this point in time if he’s going to land the gig.
