CM Punk completed his first week of MMA training at Roufusport, and his coach Duke Roufus joined him on Inside MMA Friday night to talk about how everything is going so far.
I like watching everybody spar, everybody move. It’s been a real learning experience for me, but fun for me too.” Punk said.
“I met Punk two years in Chicago, we’ve been friendly since then and I knew about his intentions to get into the sport so it wasn’t a surprise to me,” Roufus said. “A guy with his magnitude in WWE, I’m really excited to see him come into the UFC.”
Roufus said Punk’s open mind has impressed him and he’s shown a great work ethic so far.
CM Punk also said he’s about 6 months away from his debut but won’t be choosing any opponent until he’s ready. Punk said he’s been trying to cut weight. He was 220 when he signed with UFC and is hoping to get down to 185.
Jim Ross also appeared on the show and said that Punk signing with UFC has a lot of guys in WWE talking about MMA now.
