A year ago we lost the 9th Wonder Of The World Chyna. She was a bright soul with so much to give. Her time was cut short due to a string of unfortunate situations and it was way before her time. During the time leading up to her death, Chyna was filming a documentary and the trailer to “Wrestling With Chyna” just dropped.
The trailer for the upcoming documentary is emotional and makes us really reminiscent of the Chyna we once knew. It features pro wrestlers who knew her (that aren’t under contract with WWE) like X-Pac and Mick Foley discussing Chyna.
There is actually a portion of the trailer that appears as though filmmaker Anthony Anzaldo goes into Chyna’s apartment to find her dead. That looks like a pretty heavy scene. Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting Chyna’s mother is not happy at all with the trailer for the soon-to-be-released doc.
Chyna’s mother, Jan Laque is upset because she was told footage was never shot of Anzaldo finding her daughter dead. But apparently, the footage exists because it made the trailer. Then again, maybe they’re not actually finding Chyna dead in the scene at the end of the trailer. They could possibly be splicing another scene from the movie to make it seem like he’s finding her passed away. But regardless, Chyna’s mother is not happy at all.
“If he suspected that there was a problem, he should have called 911 and let the PD and coroner do their thing and stay out of it” Chyna’s mother said, “of course, I’m sure it was just another way to butt his nose into her business and try to make a buck out of it.”
Jan continued to speak about her dissatisfaction of “Wrestling With Chyna” by saying, “it was supposed to be about Joanie’s life and her return to a stable situation. Then she died. Now it’s all about the morbidity of the whole thing, her spiral downward, and her eventual death. Joanie would definitely NOT want to happen what is happening. I don’t care what anyone says. I know her better than anyone, and I can say that for sure. Quite frankly, when she died, the whole thing should have been scrubbed.”
Those are pretty harsh words, but we see where she’s coming from. We had heard during the filming of the movie that it was going to be about Chyna’s return to glory. But now it seems to be more of a cautionary tale.
Chyna was an amazing person, but things just didn’t go her way. She made some choices that went on to negatively affect her life from that point on. Who knows? Maybe others will someday watch this movie about Chyna and decide not to make the same tragic errors in their own lives.
The filmmakers probably did the best they could to save the documentary after Chyna’s passing. But, only time will tell how tasteful the end result ends up being. Let’s hope for the best. If you’d like to see the trailer, it’s posted below. But we must warn you there’s a fair amount of adult language and content in there.
