Christian had quite the run during his professional wrestling career, and he reached the top of the mountain when he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2011.
However, Christian’s first reign with the belt was short, as he dropped the title to Randy Orton a few days later at a set of SmackDown tapings, and kicked off a feud with The Viper that lasted for most of that summer.
The former World Heavyweight Champion recently spoke with Wrestling Travel about the feud, and he opened up about why Randy Orton is his favorite singles opponent.
“It was at a time when they had done some talent swapping. Smackdown lost a lot of talent that had gone over to Raw. I guess, at the time, Randy and I were the most established guys when they were trying to built up some younger talent coming up. The problem was Randy had just become a fan favorite. So somebody had to turn. And that was me. I feel like I do my best work as heel anyway, so I was more than happy to do it. You saw the quality of the matches that Randy and I had in 2011. He’s by far, my favorite singles opponent. We just had an amazing run that year.”
