Christian Talks About Getting Robbed In Huntington, West Virginia

On the second episode of Edge and Christian’s podcast, “E & C’s Pod Of Awesomeness” the seven-time WWE Tag Team Champions opened the show discussing events that have been in the news. They talked briefly about Tom Brady’s stolen jersey when Jey “Christian” Reso brought up the fact he lost a few valuable items by theft in the past as well.

“It happened to me too, I wrestling in Huntington, West Virginia. I’ll never forget because I was I was on second-to-last or last, it was toward the end of the show. So in this smaller locker room. There was a couple guys in there but obviously it was a long drive to TV so guys were leaving toward the end of the show. So I was like the only one left. I came back after my match, and you don’t think, right? So you leave some stuff out. And so I come back, I shower, I’m getting ready, and I look up and I realize ‘man, my little PlayStation gimmick was up here. The little traveling PlayStation mini deal.’ It really pissed me off because I was in a super tight Madden play-off game. Which to me it was like having Tom Brady’s jersey stolen. It’s bulls—-, right? And my telephone was gone, and an iPod. And of course I root through all my stuff and find my wallet. My money’s still all there in my big George Costanza wallet.”

Christian ran out of the locker room to try and track down his stolen belongings, but it was to no avail. Not one person he came across had seen anything or had his missing things. But, on the way to the next town he got a brilliant idea about how to locate his misappropriated items.

“I think at the time I was riding with Hurricane I believe. And I had this thought that maybe this guy would answer my phone. So I was like ‘let me borrow your phone.’ So I take [Hurricane’s] phone and I call the guy and he answers.”

“And he’s like [in a redneck voice] ‘hey man, whaddya doin’?'”

“I was like, ‘I think you have my phone.'”

“He’s like, ‘no I don’t this is my phone.'”

“And I was like, ‘what’s your phone number?'”

“He’s like, ‘umm I don’t know'”

“I was like, ‘it’s your phone but you don’t know what your phone number is? That’s kinda strange, isn’t it?'”

“And he’s like, ‘well why would I tell you?'”

“I’m like, ‘you live in West Virginia?'”

“He’s like, ‘yeah’.”

“And I said, ‘well why do you have a Florida area code? Because I just dialed a Florida area code, why do you have that?'”

“He’s like, ‘umm I don’t know'”

“And I’m like, ‘you got my phone dude'”

“And he said, ‘no I don’t, stop calling me’ and he hangs up.”

“So I called the dude back and he’s like, ‘whaddya want?'”

“And I was like, ‘I want my phone back.'”

“And he’s like, ‘this isn’t your phone, how many times do I gotta tell ya?” So he hangs up on me again.

“I call back, call back, call back so finally we’re going through this back and forth. And I call the guy back and I’m thinking, ‘how do I get this stuff back?’ I really just want my phone. Because you have numbers in there and all that sort of thing […] I wanted the Madden, I wanted to finish the game. So, finally I call the guy and I kinda concoct this story, and [its] probably not the nicest story to concoct but this is what said. I was like, ‘look man I’m just gonna lay it to ya straight. You can have the other stuff, I need my phone back.”

“And he’s like, ‘well why would I give you my phone?'”

“I said, ‘cut the s— dude, just listen to what I have to say […] I need my phone. My mother is deathly ill’ which was made up, completely made up. And I said, ‘anything can happen at any time and if something happens overnight and my family can’t reach me I just hope you’re prepared to live with that on your conscience.’ And the guy just went completely silent on the other line. And I was like, ‘hello?'”

“And he’s like, ‘yeah?'”

“And I was like, ‘look man, here’s what you do. I’m pulling up to this exit, there’s a Holiday Inn on this exit. I’ll wait across the street, I don’t know what you look like, I don’t know what car you drive.’ I was like, ‘I will go there in an hour. Just put my phone in an envelope, write my name on it, take it to the guy at the front desk, and say this person is coming for this envelope. I will go there in an hour, and I’ll get it, you won’t be there. I just want the phone, you can keep the other stuff.’ And he’s like thinking about it and I’m like, ‘my family would really appreciate it if you did this’ and the guy is just completely silent.”

“And all of a sudden he goes, ‘well, yeah I guess it’s only about fifteen miles away I could probably umm…’ he’s really contemplating it, then he’s like, ‘but yeah, your mother’s really sick?'”

“‘Yeah, yeah she’s not well.'”

“He’s like, ‘umm well I don’t even know why we’re having this conversation. It’s my godd— phone anyway!’ and he hangs up. And then he turned the phone off. So I almost had him.”

The two long-time friends went on to speculate that it was probably a good thing the thief didn’t show up at the Holiday Inn because Hurricane Helms “would have went trailer park on him.”

So, it looks like AJ Styles isn’t the only WWE superstar to have electronics stolen at a WWE live show. Even hearing about it years later, this kind of thing makes us really angry. We guess the moral of this story is don’t ever leave a bag unattended in West Virginia. But if you get your phone stolen, just call it. Because odds are the perpetrator will be dumb enough to answer.
