Chris Jericho has been one of the top stars in AEW since day one and he also happened to become the first ever AEW World Champion. Since then Jericho has gone to have some of the most memorable feuds in AEW history so far. Jericho has given no indication that he plans on slowing down and it was recently announced that he signed a new deal that will keep him with the company through 2025.
The current Ring of Honor World Champion recently spoke to Variety about his decision to re-sign with All Elite Wrestling, and he explained that he didn’t feel there was a reason not to move forward with AEW.
“I guess the simple answer is ‘Why not?’ Things have been going so well in the company, and I really do feel that this is my company. It’s tattooed on my heart, so to speak. I’ve been here since day one, and there’s really no reason not to be here continuing forward.”
“When AEW first started, I think basically it was Chris Jericho and a group of very talented people that might not have been as well known. Within three months that changed and now within three years, we’ve got at least a dozen, maybe two dozen, of our own homegrown stars that came into their own on AEW television.”
Chris Jericho defeated Claudio Castagnoli to win his eighth world title when he became the ROH World Champion at Grand Slam last month. Since then Jericho has defended the belt against a number of former ROH stars and he has vowed to desecrate the legacy of ROH. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
