Chris Jericho spent many years working as a WWE Superstar, but in 2017 he parted ways with the company and set his sights on Kenny Omega. Jericho ended up facing off against Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in 2018 and it was Omega who picked up the victory. The heated rivals went on to face off once again at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view and it was Chris Jericho who got the win that night.
During a recent episode of of Talk Is Jericho the first ever AEW World Champion revealed that he pitched a Jericho vs. Omega match for Dynamite in Winnipeg earlier this year, but it didn’t happen.
Ultimately Jericho and Omega did cross paths that night just not a singles match. House of Black defended the AEW World Trios Championship against the Jericho Appreciation Society and The Elite in a triple threat, and Jericho explained that the focus on trios matches is what prevented a Jericho vs. Omega rematch from taking place.
“We went to Winnipeg, Manitoba, I pitched Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho. Couldn’t get the match, you know why? Trios. Me, Danny, and Sammy had to beat his stupid a**, but still. No singles match, ‘Kenny is in a trio.’ What are you talking about? This is Kenny Omega.”
At this point in time there’s no telling when Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega will face off in another singles match, but it seems that Jericho has at least some interest in making it happen.
