Chris Jericho Responds To WWE’s Statement On AEW Dynamite’s Debut

It’s been a big week for the world of professional wrestling, as WWE Raw’s season premiere aired on Monday, and on Wednesday night the debut episode of AEW Dynamite aired on TNT.

Following the debut of AEW Dynamite WWE issued a statement congratulating the company which also featured a comment saying “this is a marathon, not a one-night sprint.”

AEW went head to head with NXT for the first time on Wednesday and AEW came out ahead drawing 1.409 million viewers. NXT drew 891,000 viewers.

Chris Jericho spoke to Complex Sports about AEW Dynamite’s debut, and he had the following to say about WWE’s statement:

“They kinda started this war and the very first night they got destroyed. Big deal, it’s our first debut, but they have to come back and say, ‘It’s a marathon, not a one-night sprint.’ Who ever said it’s a one-night sprint? It’s not a war for us. Now we’re placed in one and we’re gonna kick ass.”
