It’s been a crazy year for the professional wrestling industry, and a few months ago WWE released a number of stars from their contracts.
Now we’ve reached a point where non-compete clauses are expiring, and former WWE stars are making announcements regarding their next moves.
It was recently confirmed that Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson have signed contracts with Impact Wrestling.
Last year it was expected that Gallows and Anderson would be leaving WWE when their contracts expired, and it was rumored that they were AEW bound. However, the former champions ultimately decided to sign new contracts with WWE.
Fightful Select reports that Chris Jericho believed that Gallows and Anderson would be joining AEW, and he wasn’t very happy when he found out they didn’t sign.
On a recent episode of their Talk N’ Shop podcast, Gallows and Anderson didn’t name names, but they confirmed that a wrestler in a high power position was offended.
“We have other friends in that company, we don’t have to drop a bunch of names. It’s not that kind of an interview, but it’s not hard to figure out. A friend who is in a high power position there and wrestler who was like, ‘what the fuck, guys?’ I think that he’s still a little offended by it and my answer to him, if he ever hears this or reads the transcript, was none of this was ever personal. We appreciated the offer and everything everyone was trying to do for us.”
They also noted that it wasn’t personal, as they simply made a business decision based on what they thought was best for their families.
