Chris Jericho is currently one of the top stars in All Elite Wrestling, and he’s been with the company since he signed in January of 2019.
It’s been a while since fans have seen Jericho wrestle inside a WWE ring, but for many years he was taking on the best that WWE had to offer, and he would often hit his opponents with the codebreaker.
Last week on Monday Night Raw Asuka used the codebreaker, and it was noted in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the announcers are banned from using the term.
“Asuka made a hot tag and hit a codebreaker, which, by the way, is a term the announcers are banned from using.”
WWE isn’t a company that’s known for acknowledging wrestlers in other promotions, and with Chris Jericho being such a big part of AEW right now it’s possible that they’re just trying to avoid making reference to him.
