Brock Lesnar defeated Randy Orton by TKO at SummerSlam, and he left Orton lying in a pool of his own blood. Shortly after SummerSlam, it was reported via F4Wonline.com that Chris Jericho got into an altercation with Brock Lesnar backstage after Lesnar’s match with Orton, and Jericho has confirmed that the altercation did indeed go down.
Chris Jericho was recently a guest on You’re Welcome with Chael Sonnen, and he talked about the altercation, and what happened between him and Brock.
“We did have a little bit of a brouhaha, shall we say. I think that happens when you get guys that are in a sport such as ours, that’s half-entertainment, half-real, half-not. He had just come out of the ring, I had just come out of the ring an hour before or so. I just thought the finish to that match was very brutal, very violent, and I just didn’t know if Randy was ok. I was checking on Randy, my friend, we’ve always been pretty close.”
“He said something, I said something, and next thing you know we’re nose to nose, kind of yelling at each other. It was diffused fairly quickly, but I mean, listen, let’s make no bones about this, Brock is a trained fighter, and he’s a beast, but I’m not the type of person to back down from anybody. Hot heads fire off and we were in each other’s face, and that happens sometimes. I guess I kind of have a reputation for it too, that I’ve never backed down. I think sometimes in the case of guys his size, they think people are just going to wilt, and most people do, but that’s not me, that’s not my background. Like I said, I’m glad he didn’t eat me, but basically there was a face to face confrontation and I’ll leave the rest between the two of us.”
