AEW and NXT have been going head to head on Wednesday nights for a few weeks now, and even though both sides have downplayed a possible war between the two companies, stars from both sides have been taking shots at each other.
Seth Rollins recently got a lot of people talking when he said that Kenny Omega is wrestling in the minor leagues, but during a recent appearance on Grado’s Wrestling Daft podcast, Chris Jericho insisted that NXT is the minor league.
“NXT is still the minor league. Those guys are still unknown performers, it’s not a competition to us and I knew we’d win because we have more star power. When you look at the end of our first week of TV who was out there at the end? Chris Jericho – we know him! Dustin Rhodes – we know him! Jon Moxley – we know him, he used to be another name and but we know who that is. Jim Ross is commentating – I know that guy!”
Jericho went on to say that he thinks AEW’s real competition is WWE’s main roster, which is why Vince McMahon set NXT up to go head to head with AEW.
“Our competition is RAW, is SmackDown, is Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, and all those guys! I think it was a stroke of genius by Vince McMahon to put NXT on against up because it took the focus off “the main show and AEW” and put it on “the minor league and AEW.'”
Which show do you think has been better over the last few weeks, NXT or AEW? Sound off in the comments below.
