CM Punk has been a hot topic in the wrestling world for weeks now ever since he and Ace Steel got into a physical altercation with The Young Bucks after the All Out pay-per-view. It’s been reported that Ace Steel has been released and that CM Punk isn’t expected to return to AEW as the company is in talks to buy out his contract.
Punk returned to wrestling last year when he made his AEW debut in August of 2021. He was quickly pushed as one of the top stars in the company and his push eventually led to two AEW World Championship reigns.
It seems that everyone has an opinion on CM Punk at this point and it’s interesting to note that Chris Jericho liked a tweet posted by Twitter user @Ibladedaily which said, “Imagine that you’re CM Punk. You’ve had one of the most triumphant comebacks ever in the history of wrestling. You’ve been promoted as the star you never got to be in WWE. And within a year, you completely ostracize yourself, becoming so toxic that you’re not worth having around.”
At this point all signs seem to point to AEW buying out CM Punk’s contract. If that does happen it’s not clear where his wrestling career could go from there, but it was recently reported that Triple H might consider bringing him back to WWE and you can get more on that here.
