Chris Jericho has consistently been one of the top stars in all of professional wrestling for decades now and he was one of the first big names to sign with AEW when the company first launched in 2019.
In recent months there’s been a lot of talk about Jericho’s future as he has not appeared on AEW programming since April, and his contract with All Elite Wrestling is set to expire at the end of this year.
At this point there’s a lot of speculation regarding a possible WWE return for Jericho who recently assured fans that his in-ring career is far from over when he posted the following:
“Crazy to think it’s been 35 years to the day of my VERY FIRST MATCH! On Oct 2, 1990 I faced @stormwrestlingacademy in Ponoka, Alberta at the #PonokaMooseHall, in front of about 85 people. The match ended in a ten minute draw and I remember every little thing as if it happened only yesterday! (I got paid 30 dollars….a 20 & a 10!). I have had a wonderful, amazing, one in a million career since then…. and I wanna thank all of YOU from around the entire world for joining me for certain parts …or even all of it! And the Good news is….IT AIN’T OVER YET!”
It was reported back in August that there are people in AEW who believe Chris Jericho won’t be returning to the company. It’s also been reported that some believe he could end up returning to WWE as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble.
One way or another Jericho has made it clear that he intends to keep wrestling and with his deal set to expire at the end of the year it’s only a matter of time before we know for sure if he’ll be choosing WWE or AEW.
Stay tuned for updates.
