Director Lexi Alexander recently announced on Twitter that she had signed on to direct the upcoming Chris Benoit biopic “Crossface.”
Lexi Alexander recently spoke to Variety about her involvement with the project and why she decided to take on the job of directing the film.
“I was pretty certain I’d stay in TV rather than returning to the feature world, because the material just seems so much better in TV, especially in drama, but then ‘Crossface’ came my way. A heartbreaking, true story about the dark side of wrestling. … I couldn’t say no to that.”
Variety also reports that Alex A. Ginsburg and Tony Lee of Let It Play will be producing. Ram Getz and Matthew Randazzo V will also be working on the film as executive producers.
The movie will be based on Randazzo’s book “Ring of Hell: The Story of Chris Benoit & the Fall of the Pro Wrestling Industry.”
Lexi Alexander is known for directing films such as “Punisher: War Zone,” “Green Street Hooligans” and “Johnny Flynton.” She has also worked as a director on shows such as “Arrow,” “Supergirl” and “Limitless.”
As of right now there’s no word on casting announcements or when the movie is set to begin filming.
