In recent weeks WWE has released a number of talents from the main roster and NXT, and Chelsea Green was one of the more surprising names that the company decided to part ways with.
Green got a lot of people talking with her NXT run, and her fans seemed to be thrilled when she got called up to SmackDown last year, but her run with the blue brand was cut short when she suffered an injury during her debut match.
During a recent appearance on Booker T’s Hall of Fame podcast Chelsea Green talked about her WWE release, and she went into possible reasons why the company decided to let her go.
“I did show up all the time when I wasn’t booked and I continuously pitched – probably, that could of been my downfall is just nonstop bombarding everyone with emails and pitches and everything. That’s just the way my head works. It doesn’t work necessarily in a way that’s great for actual in-ring wrestling, my head works creatively. So, I love coming up with new ideas and characters and storylines. That’s what I always did and pushed for – some sort of character that was different. But it’s really hard to say why I think I was released. I keep thinking about it and keep wondering.”
As far as what’s next for Chelsea Green she noted that she may emulate what Cody Rhodes did when he left WWE and not sign anywhere for a while. Green says that she wants to be the hottest free agent, and she may spend the rest of 2021 trying to “check off bucket list matches.”
Stay tuned for updates.
