A few weeks ago the new WWE Women’s United States Championship debuted and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced that a tournament would be held to crown the first champion.
Over the last few weeks a number of competitors entered the tournament, but it came down to two. On the most recent episode of SmackDown, Michin picked up a victory over Tiffany Stratton, and Chelsea Green defeated Bayley to advance to the finals.
Chelsea Green and Michin went on to face off in the WWE Women’s United States Championship tournament finals at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Piper Niven accompanied Chelsea Green as she made her entrance while wearing an outfit that featured her own face all over it. Early on in the match Piper Niven attacked Michin while the referee wasn’t looking.
Later in the match Michin jumped from the apron and hit a somersault to take out both Chelsea Green and Piper Niven on the outside. Chelsea rolled back into the ring as Michin hit Piper Niven with Eat Defeat at ringside. She hit Chelsea Green with Eat Defeat back inside the ring, but Chelsea got her foot on the rope. The fans started to chant for Chelsea.
Michin got Chelsea Green on the top rope in the corner. Piper Niven jumped up on the apron, so Michin knocked her off with a dropkick. As Michin was distracted Chelsea Green grabbed her arms then flipped off the top rope to hit the Unprettier and win the match.
After the match Nick Aldis gave Chelsea the WWE Women’s United States Championship belt as Piper Niven waved him off. Piper Niven then put Chelsea on her shoulders and they celebrated as pyro went off in the background.
