Sunday night at WWE Hell in a Cell, Sasha Banks and Charlotte made history in more ways than one. Sasha defended her Raw Women’s Championship against Charlotte in the first ever women’s Hell in a Cell match, and the ladies also main evented a WWE pay-per-view for the first time ever.

Leading up to the match there was a lot of speculation as to which match would close the show, and prior to the pay-per-view WWE was advertising a triple main event. Roman Reigns vs. Rusev went on first, Owens vs. Rollins was featured in the middle of the card, and Sasha vs. Charlotte closed the show.

Charlotte was carried to the ring on a throne, and before the match kicked off the Boston crowd chanted, “We want Sasha.” The Raw Women’s Champion made her way out to the entrance ramp in a Cadillac Escalade then she stood on top of the car and held her title high above her head to a loud pop from the crowd.

As the cell was coming down both women battled outside the ring and into the crowd. Sasha started to take the announce table apart and then both ladies started climbing the cage. Charlotte jumped down, grabbed Sasha and powerbombed her from the side of the cage through the announce table.

Paramedics then came down to ringside and placed Sasha on a stretcher. Back in the ring Charlotte demanded the title, and JoJo started to announce that Charlotte had won by forfeit. When Sasha heard that she jumped up off of the stretcher, walked into the cell and then the bell rang.

Charlotte targeted Sasha’s back and at one point she slammed her onto a steel chair that she had set up in the ring. Back on the outside Sasha scaled the cage like Spider-Man then hit Charlotte with double knees to the face.

Sasha brought Charlotte back inside for Three Amigos to a loud, “Eddie” chant from the crowd. She followed up with a Frog Splash but Charlotte kicked out.

Charlotte tried to make Sasha tap out to the Figure Eight, but Sasha broke it up by hitting Charlotte with a chair.

Charlotte eventually got Sasha on a table and she was going for a moonsault but Sasha countered and set up the table in the corner. Sasha then grabbed Charlotte and attempted to powerbomb her but her back gave out and she dropped her. Charlotte threw Sasha into the table and then hit Natural Selection for the win.
