Last week The New Day defended their Tag Team Titles twice on Raw, and they went on to make history when they broke Demolition’s record. The New Day are now officially the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history, and they put their titles on the line Sunday night at Roadblock: End of the Line.
Sheamus and Cesaro earned the right to challenge The New Day after they won a number 1 contender’s match during Tribute to the Troops, and the title match kicked off the show at WWE Roadblock. Kofi Kingston and Big E defended the titles on behalf of The New Day.
At one point Cesaro hit Kofi Kingston with the Cesaro Swing, then he put him in the Sharpshooter. Kofi tapped out, but the referee didn’t see it because Xavier Woods was distracting him. Kofi tried to roll Cesaro up, but he somehow reversed the roll up into the Neutralizer then pinned Kofi, but Big E broke up the pin.
Sheamus made his way into the match, and Xavier Woods sacrificed himself and took a Brogue Kick for Kofi. Kingston followed up with the S.O.S. on Sheamus, but Sheamus kicked out.
Kofi Kingston thought Cesaro had tagged him, so he hit him with Trouble in Paradise then pinned him. But Sheamus was still the legal man, so he hit pinned Kofi to end The New Day’s 483 day title reign.
After the match The New Day handed the belts over to Cesaro and Sheamus, and Cesaro hugged The New Day while Sheamus grabbed the belts for himself and celebrated.
Cesaro celebrated with the crowd, then eventually Cesaro stole the belts from Sheamus at the top of the ramp. They hugged then celebrated together as they left.
