John Cena Getting Heavy In Hollywood

It looks like John Cena’s work in films such as “Trainwreck” and “Sisters” was just the beginning for him to flex his acting chops. The thought is that John Cena will be lengthening his time away from WWE in the upcoming years, thus making himself even more of a part-timer.

While another major title run is still potentially in the cards, Hollywood is definitely calling John Cena. Ever since he recanted his comments concerning The Rock’s part time status the thinking is that he is looking to make the jump to Hollywood sooner than later.

Cena has two major movies in the pipeline, and he is establishing himself as more of an eclectic actor in the process.

Cena is slated to star in the upcoming film “The Wall” headed by “Mr & Mrs Smith” director, Doug Liman. ‘The Wall’ is currently in post production and the movie is a gritty war themed film about an American sharpshooter in Iraq co-starring “Kick-Ass” and “Godzilla” star Aaron-Taylor Johnson. Taylor-Johnson also portrayed Quicksilver in the recent “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

A few months ago Cena was also announced to co-star in the upcoming comedy, “The Pact” alongside Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz. Deadline has confirmed that the movie has been greenlighted by Universal and the current release date for the film is April 20, 2018.

“The Pact” is scheduled to be directed by “Pitch Perfect” writer and producer Kay Cannon. “The Pact” will follow three parents who discover their daughters have devised a pact to lose their virginity on prom night.

These two films seem to differ greatly in theme and overall subject matter, showing that Cena is attempting to show variety in his acting range. Although he’s remained adamant that he has no plans to leave the WWE behind, there’s no denying that John Cena’s star is on the rise in Hollywood.
