Carlito Reveals Why He Had Backstage Heat With Shawn Michaels

Earlier this year Carlito made his surprise return to WWE during the 30 man Royal Rumble match, and fans made it clear that they were happy to see him. During Carlito’s run with WWE he faced off against some big names, and he clashed with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels on more than one occasion.

It seems that Shawn Michaels and Carlito didn’t always see eye to eye, as the former Intercontinental Champion recently told Wrestling Shoot Interviews that HBK pulled him aside and told him to his face that he didn’t like him.

“I respected Shawn Michaels because he was one of the only ones that told me to my face that he didn’t like me. I can respect that. We had a talk, he told me whatever, and I can totally respect that. I don’t pretend to be everybody’s cup of tea. I like it that instead of telling me behind my back, he told me right to my face. After that I had a lot of respect for Shawn Michaels.”

While talking about why Shawn Michaels didn’t like him Carlito noted that Michaels and others thought he didn’t care enough.

“I forgot what it was. Same story as everybody else. [Shawn Michaels thought] I was too nonchalant or I didn’t care enough or whatever. I was too… [He thought] I had my mind on other things than wrestling. Stuff like that. I was like, ‘Alright.’”

Following his appearance at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view Carlito competed on Raw the next night when he teamed up with Jeff Hardy. He has yet to make another appearance on WWE programming.
