SmackDown Live is set to feature Shinsuke Nakamura vs John Cena in a dream match but only time will tell how long John Cena is going to be around for more dream matches.
With the recent announcement, he is going to star in the new Transformers movie Cena’s WWE future might be coming to another hiatus. Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live that if he were running the Bumblebee movie, then he wouldn’t be letting Cena work a series of matches leading to SummerSlam for fear he might injure himself and cost the movie production a ton of money.
“As far as the John Cena/Nakamura match, let’s just say he’s done after tonight,” Alvarez said. Bryan said Cena might stick around longer and go until SummerSlam “but he’s done at some point because he’s going to go make this movie.”
The Bumblebee Movie is going to be taking John Cena away for quite a while and since it’s a Transformers movie, who knows how many sequels John will get called away for in the years to come. Cena’s life might revolve around WWE and Transformers for a long time. His life will literally be like when you were a kid and put on mixed tag matches with your action figures and had Optimus Prime take on one of your WWE figures.
“The thing you gotta remember about John Cena is, John Cena is a big wrestling fan, I mean he’s a really big fan” Alvarez continued. “He wants to have a great match with Shinsuke Nakamura. And I think that’s why we’re getting this now before he goes and does this movie.”
He said WWE could book the Singh Brothers to run in and mess up the match, “but that’s something you would do if for example you were gonna do a rematch or you were gonna set up a three-way for the title or something like that. I mean is [Cena] is leaving then I think they go in there, have a great match and Nakamura beats him with a Kinshasa and that’s it.”
