Bryan Danielson was lucky enough to have a long run as an active wrestler and he managed to achieve massive success. Last year Danielson won the AEW World Championship at All In, but he made it clear that his run as a full-time wrestler would come to an end when he lost the belt. Jon Moxley ended up defeating Bryan Danielson to win the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream in October of 2024, and Bryan hasn’t wrestled since.
Fightful recently released an interview with Bryan Danielson that was filmed back in December of 2024, and during the interview Bryan noted that his chances of returning to the ring are 50/50.
“My priority is my health. I think the odds of me wrestling again, ever, are probably 50/50 at this point. My desire is to not get neck surgery. If I can live comfortably without neck surgery, but it means that I wouldn’t get to wrestle again, I think I’d be ok with that.”
“I had neck surgery before and it wasn’t a good experience. It kinda messed up my spine in the upper area for the rest of my life. Now my spine is altered. If we can get to a point where I’m a little bit more comfortable without needing neck surgery, but they say ‘you can’t wrestle anymore,’ I think that’s a fair trade off. I’ve had a good run kid.”
At this point it seems that a return to the ring for Bryan Danielson is far from a sure thing, but as we’ve seen in the past you can never say never when it comes to professional wrestling.
