Bruce Prichard On Why Jeff Jarrett Had An Entourage

Double J, Jeff Jarrett had a good upside to him but he never reached the top of the company during his run in the WWF. The reasons are all different depending on who you ask, but he gained much more prestige elsewhere.

Jarrett came up in the conversation rather unexpectedly during a recent episode of Something To Wrestle With where Bruce Prichard and co-host Conrad Thompson were discussing Fully Loaded 1998.

When asked who’s idea it was to call The Godwins “Southern Justice” Bruce Prichard said it was Jerry Jarrett’s. Bruce went on to give a very interesting theory on Jerry’s idea behind this name.

“Well, actually it was Jerry Jarrett’s idea,” Prichard said. “If you go back to the original incarnation of Jeff Jarrett — Double J, Jeff Jarrett — go back to those early vignettes. If you notice Jeff always had an entourage. Well that was Jerry’s thing about… and this is me summizing what I think Jerry was thinking. [It] was that he was so afraid of Jeff either getting over or not getting over that he kept pitching: (while doing his impression of Jerry Jarrett) ‘well Jeff has to have and entourage! With a big entourage around him then he’s got all these people! He’s got secretary, he’s got an agent, he’s got a manager, he’s got a roadie — he’s got an entourage!'”

“That at this point with Jeff [Jarrett] coming back it was kind of a repacking Jeff and to where Vince kind of — Vince being Vince McMahon went back to: (while doing his impression of McMahon) ‘g-ddamn, we’ll put an entourage around him.’ — ‘an entourage!’ Which was kinda funny to listen to Vince do the Jerry Jarrett imitation as well.”

Conrad Thompson asked Bruce if Vince really has a Jerry Jarrett impression and Prichard confirmed that fact and said “we all had Jerry Jarrett’s pal.”
