On the most recent episode of Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard, Bruce and Conrad questioned the agenda of the ESPN “30 for 30” documentary about the XFL because it was put together by Dick Ebersol’s son. Conrad says that it would be the same kind of situation if there was a Vince McMahon documentary that was put together by Stephanie. Bruce and Conrad made many jokes about how the documentary focused on McMahon and Ebersol’s friendship.
Bruce also said that the HBO Real Sports interview with Bob Costas was a total hatchet job. He had some very choice words toward the some of the Real Sports staff. He said that WWE cameras filmed the HBO cameras so they had the raw footage. Conrad asked Bruce if he thought that Bob Costas went into the interview with a “gotcha” attitude and Bruce agreed with that.
Bruce said that they thought that Real Sports would be a friendlier setup because Costas was a wrestling fan. Conrad brought up the fact that Costas even had a subscription to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and was supposed to be a part of WrestleMania VII.
Bruce said that everyone thought the interview was horrible and tried to fix it pretty quickly. He said that Ebersol was one of the first people who called Vince to tell him it wasn’t a good thing all around for the XFL and McMahon. So they scheduled a rematch of sorts as Vince went back to Real Sports after the XFL closed.
Conrad goes into a reenactment of Gerald Briscoe telling Vince McMahon that the interview didn’t go well and Bruce’s impression of Vince McMahon is worth the entire 3-hour podcast.
