The Broken Hardys have been the talk of the wrestling community over the past few days. Broken Matt Hardy announced last week that the team had parted ways with Impact Wrestling and since then he’s teased appearances in WWE and NJPW.
However, The Hardys shocked the world Saturday night when they showed up at ROH Manhattan Mayhem and they defeated The Young Bucks to win the ROH Tag Team Titles. After the match Matt told the crowd that they have signed the most lucrative contract in the history of Ring of Honor.
Many fans were hoping to see the team return to WWE and it was recently reported that they were talking with WWE officials about possibly signing a new deal. After the team showed up in ROH and Matt announced that they would be working with the company through Supercard of Honor XI on April 1st, some still held out hope that their deal with ROH would be a short-term deal. It doesn’t look like that’s the case as the team is reportedly sticking with ROH for the for a while.
Dave Meltzer noted on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that their current deal is a long-term deal and they are not returning to WWE in the near future. He said that he doesn’t know the length of the deal, but it will be longer than two months.
The Hardys had been telling promoters that they wouldn’t be booking indie dates in May, but they have put the word out that they are once again open for independent bookings. The deal with ROH is said to be a big money deal and the team is reportedly happy because they will be able to retain creative control.
Sorry folks, but if you were hoping to see Matt and Jeff Hardy return to WWE, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen anytime soon. But right now The Hardys are one of the most popular acts in wrestling, so it should be interesting to see how they’re used in ROH.
