Saturday night UFC announced that Brock Lesnar will be making his return to the octagon at UFC 200 on July 9th. This morning Brock Lesnar spoke to ESPN and he confirmed that he will be facing Mark Hunt at the event. Lesnar said there wasn’t any particular reason why Hunt was chosen as his opponent other than that’s who UFC wants him to face.
Brock said that he has been haunted by the decision to not fight again and that he was forced to leave MMA because of diverticulitis. He said that he feels he’s at 1000% and he wouldn’t be fighting if he didn’t feel like he’s ready.
Lesnar confirmed he’s still under contract with WWE and he referred to himself as a crossover athlete. He said he doesn’t know what WWE has planned for him at SummerSlam this year. He also said that he was the one that contacted Dana White to see if he could fight at UFC 200. After he called Dana White he then hashed it out with Vince McMahon and that the deal was several months in the making.
Brock Lesnar was also asked about UFC banning reporter Ariel Helwani for breaking the story and he said that he’s not familiar with Ariel Helwani.
