In the fall of 2016, Goldberg returned to WWE and kicked off a rivalry with Brock Lesnar. Their rivalry wrapped up at WrestleMania 33 when Brock Lesnar defeated Goldberg to win the Universal Title at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, FL.
Fans remember the last time Brock Lesnar won a major title, but they remember his reign for all the wrong reasons. During Brock’s last WWE Championship reign he barely appeared on TV, and so far it looks like his Universal Title reign will be more of the same.
Brock Lesnar hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since the night after WrestleMania 33, and neither has the Universal Title for that matter. However, WWE does have plans for Brock Lesnar to defend the Universal Title, and his first title defense has just been announced.
The American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX, released a video announcing that Brock will be defending the belt on July 9th at a brand new pay-per-view called WWE Great Balls Of Fire.
It was reported a few months ago that WWE officials were planning to bring back the Bad Blood pay-per-view for the July 9th event, but it appears that those plans have changed.
As of this writing Brock Lesnar’s opponent for WWE Great Balls Of Fire has yet to be announced.
