Brock Lesnar’s In-Competition Sample From UFC 200 Tests Positive For Banned Substance

Brock Lesnar recently defeated Mark Hunt at UFC 200 and everyone was talking about his triumphant return to the octagon. People are still talking about UFC 200, and they’re still talking about Brock Lesnar, but they’re not talking about his victory.

UFC recently confirmed that Brock Lesnar had been flagged for a potential USADA Anti-Doping violation stemming from a sample that was collected in June. Now UFC has released a statement saying that Brock Lesnar gave the USADA a sample on the day of UFC 200, and he tested positive for the same banned substance that was found in the previous sample. UFC issued the following:

“The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Brock Lesnar that his in-competition sample collection from July 9, 2016, at UFC 200, has tested positive for the same substance as his previously announced out-of-competition collection on June 28, 2016.”

At this point it’s not known what the banned substance is, but the second part of UFC’s statement notes that Brock is entitled to a legal review process before any sanctions are imposed.

“USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. The Nevada State Athletic Commission also retains jurisdiction over this matter as the sample collection was performed at UFC 200 in Las Vegas.”
