Brock Lesnar has had a big week as The Beast Incarnate returned to the ring on Saturday night at the Day 1 pay-per-view, and he ended up pinning Big E in the main event to win the WWE Championship.
The Beast is certainly no stranger to championship gold, and on the road to Survivor Series in 2017 WWE was promoting a champion vs. champion match featuring Brock Lesnar and Jinder Mahal. However, before the pay-per-view Jinder Mahal ended up dropping the WWE Championship to AJ Styles, and Brock ended up facing The Phenomenal One instead.
Dave Meltzer recently discussed the match on Wrestling Observer Radio, and he noted that WWE ended up changing the match because Brock Lesnar did not want to work with Jinder Mahal.
In the end everything seemed to work out for Brock and AJ as their match received positive reviews from the wrestling community. Unfortunately for Jinder Mahal he has not been able to capture the WWE Championship since losing it to AJ, and there’s no sign that he will be involved in the title picture anytime soon.
