Sunday night was a huge night for Bray Wyatt as he won the Elimination Chamber match and captured his first WWE Title. Fans have been waiting a long time to see Bray Wyatt reach the top of the card and now it looks like WWE officials are ready to push him to the moon.
Wyatt didn’t just look good in the Elimination Chamber match, he looked dominant as he managed to pin not John Cena and AJ Styles. Bray Wyatt has fallen victim to some questionable booking decisions over the years and Sunday night he finally got the big win he needed. Bray spoke with ESPN after the pay-per-view and he said that he always expected he would win the title.
“To me it was an up-yours to the authority, because when I walked into this, I don’t think anyone ever looked at me and said, ‘One day you’re going to be WWE champion,'” Wyatt said. “I’ve seen so many come and go over the years, and so many that look the part and thought they were something special and they just weren’t. And someone like me, I had to cut my teeth for years just to be recognized. No one looked at my direction. I had to grab them by the throat and make them look me in the eyes and say, ‘Look at me.’ This is a huge accomplishment for me, because no one else expected it but I always did.”
Bray went on to note that winning the WWE Title cements his legacy and it’s hard to argue with that sentiment. WrestleMania 33 is right around the corner and Wyatt is now focused on the big event.
As of right now Bray is set to face off against fellow Wyatt Family member and Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton at the show of shows. For months now Bray Wyatt has been expected to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania and it seems unlikely that WWE will change plans at this point.
