The Wyatt Family rivalry took place first on SmackDown live this week as it was the first match of the night. This was done because the Lumberjack match which was announced during the opening segment between Miz and Ambrose was set to headline.
The three members of the Wyatt Family came down as one unit but they would soon separate and Bray Wyatt promised it would be a barn burner. Randy got mostly cheers, and Harper got a pretty heelish reaction.
The two stalled a bit, and gave Harper a chance to do his signature weird yell before they finally locked up. The two made their way outside the ring briefly and Harper took over the match as they both went back inside the squared circle. Harper shot Orton into the turnbuckle and Orton came back with a series of clotheslines. Randy threw Harper outside and on his way in Luke got a signature DDT through the middle ropes from Orton.
They soon made it back outside and Orton suplexed his Wyatt Family brethren off of the announce table. Bray Wyatt then got involved in the match by booting Harper down. He flung a downed Randy Orton into the ring and hesitated before he threw Orton in after him.
Luke Harper slowed things down with a headlock while Bray Wyatt remained in his rocking chair outside. Luke Harper suplexed Orton, and made his way up the top turnbuckle when Randy stopped him with a punch or two to the head. Orton performed a superplex while Mauro made a reference to Randy’s legendary father.
Luke Harper would make a small comeback, but have it was squelched quickly when Orton and got a close two count. Bray remained silent in his chair outside of the ring. Luke performed a Michinoku Driver and got a close two count.
Luke poised himself in the corner and went for his discus clothesline. Orton tried to reverse with an RKO but Luke Harper ducked and rolled him up in a small package for a close two count. They would follow that up with a similar sequence where Luke Harper got another close two count.
Luke harper went for another discus clothesline and Randy executed a signature RKO for the three count. Bray Wyatt remained stationary in his rocking chair outside while he chewed on his lip and twiddled his fingers. The Wyatt Family patriarch carefully got out of his chair, and stepped in the ring where he hugged Luke and patted him on the back of the neck almost to console him just before he performed a Sister Abigail on Harper.
As Randy and Bray walked up the ramp together while Luke remained in the ring looking perplexed.
We reported last week that Luke was showing signs of turning face at recent house shows, it looks like they might be going that way with him. One thing is for sure that Randy Orton versus Luke Harper is a great matchup and those two could definitely pull off a much longer blow-off match at a pay-per-view.
