The last few years have been a rollercoaster for Big E as he managed to win the WWE Championship in 2021, but he’s been out of action since March of 2022 after he suffered a broken neck while taking an overhead belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland on the floor outside the ring.
Booker T and Ric Flair recently discussed wrestling injuries on the Hall of Fame podcast, and Booker T noted that he told Big E to stop jumping through the ropes to attack his opponent on the outside.as he would often do.
“The one guy I always preached to was Big E. I said, ‘Big E, stop jumping through the ropes. Stop doing that.’ He didn’t get hurt on that, but he got hurt on a belly-to-belly suplex to floor.”
Ric Flair also brought up the fact that the move that injured Big E was approved by an agent when he said, “You know what’s worse about that, Book? Number one, Big E is 300 pounds. I just had this conversation the other day. The agent, they didn’t call that out there, the agent approved it.”
Booker T clearly agreed when he added, “I feel that way too.”
Flair when on to say that there are only a few select wrestlers he would take a belly-to-belly from on the floor when he continued with, “A kid, who has never done that, is giving a guy a belly-to-belly on the floor. I’ll tell you who gives me a belly-to-belly on the floor. Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar. That’s it.”
Big E recently said that he will get the next update on his neck in March, so hopefully the former WWE Champion will be receiving some good news. Stay tuned for updates.
