Bobby Roode On How He Reacted To “Glorious” When He Heard It For The First Time

Bobby Roode is the current NXT Champion, and he also happens to have one of the catchiest theme songs in professional wrestling right now. His “Glorious” theme song has helped his career in a big way and people all over the world have been dropping “Glorious Bombs” ever since he started using it.

Everybody seems to love the song, but during a recent appearance on X-Pac’s 12360 show, Roode admitted that he wasn’t sold on it at first..

“When I listened to it, it was totally different than what I had previously and totally different than everybody on the roster. Whenever you can be different and unique, that’s a good opportunity. I didn’t love it at first. But the more I listened to it, the catchier it got. Obviously it caught fire. It was the number one song on iTunes for a little bit of time there. So it was a blessing.”

Triple H is the mastermind behind NXT and he’s very hands on when it comes to working with talent. In this case Triple H’s involvement seems to have worked out in Roode’s favor, as he says that Hunter was the one who insisted he use the song.

“I think they did make [‘Glorious’] for somebody else. The original song that they sent me was nothing like the ‘Glorious’ song. We had it kind of set out that [original song] was what I was going to use when I made my debut. But Hunter is a very smart man, obviously. He thought that this ‘Glorious’ song would fit my character a little better.”

Prior to his NXT run, Bobby Roode was one of the top stars in Impact Wrestling, but after a 12 year stint with the company, he decided to walk away last year. 2016 was good to Bobby Roode and it looks like 2017 will be even better, because he has his eyes on a main roster spot.

This is a great place to be for me. Obviously I’d be lying if I said I never wanted to be on a Monday Night Raw or a SmackDown Live. But I’m just making the most of the time I have down here [at NXT], and when they feel like the time is right I’m going to go up there and try to capitalize on that opportunity the same way that I did here in NXT.

It’s official folks, Roman Reigns is going to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33. According to Roman Reigns he’s going to be the man that retires The Undertaker and we’re talking about whether or not it should happen on this week’s episode of Still Real Radio.
