Originally Brock Lesnar was set to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the Day 1 pay-per-view, but Reigns was pulled from the event and Brock was added to the WWE Championship match. Brock Lesnar managed to defeat Bobby Lashley, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Big E in the fatal 5 way main event at Day 1 and when it was all said and done The Beast Incarnate walked out with the WWE Title.
For years now fans have been talking about a potential dream match between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley, and following Day 1 it was confirmed that Brock would defend the WWE Title against Lashley at the Royal Rumble. On Saturday night Lashley and Lesnar finally clashed in St. Louis, and the match did not disappoint.
Early on in the match Lashley and Lesnar traded suplexes back and forth, but Lashley got the upper hand when he hit The Beast with two spears in a row. On the outside he went for another spear, but Lesnar moved and Lashley ran full speed into the barricade. Back in the ring Lesnar wore Lashley down as he hit him with the German Suplex five times.
Brock Lesnar went for the F5, but Lashley reversed it into the Hurt Lock. Lesnar broke the hold and pushed Lashley in the ref in the corner. The Beast followed up by hitting the F5 but he accidentally hit the ref with Lashley’s foot.
Roman Reigns then appeared out of nowhere and speared Brock Lesnar then stared down Paul Heyman. As they stared at each other Heyman handed the WWE Title belt to Reigns, and them smiled before Reigns hit Lesnar in the head with it. Bobby Lashley pinned Brock to win the match.
Paul Heyman then left with Roman Reigns as Bobby Lashley and MVP celebrated in the ring.
