Billy Gunn is currently one of AEW’s most popular stars thanks to his alliance with The Acclaimed, but unfortunately Gunn was absent from the recent DX reunion during the season premiere episode of Raw.
In the weeks leading up to the show fans were wondering if Billy Gunn might make a special appearance on Raw. However, it ultimately didn’t happen. Gunn told Sports Illustrated that he wanted to participate, but he’s not sour about the way things unfolded with the situation.
“Of course, I would have liked to have been there, but I understand that I work for another company. It was a collective decision. I’m not putting it on anyone. I’m not sour about it. We’re two separate companies, and it just didn’t work out.”
It was recently reported that WWE was in talks with AEW to allow Billy Gunn to appear on the show and the talks fell apart after WWE declined to mention AEW on Raw.
Billy Gunn also commented on what it’s like to work with The Acclaimed when he added, “We jell so well together. We’re not trying to fight each other. DX was so good because everybody knew their spot and none of us were trying to jockey for position. It’s the same here. We fit together in The Acclaimed, and we’re focused on doing the best thing collectively for the group. The goal is to make this the best this can be, and I’m here to help them be the best they can be. I want them to have the same success I had.”
