Former WWE Tag Team Champion and WWE developmental coach Billy Gunn has been let go by WWE. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Billy Gunn tested positive for performance enhancing drugs at a powerlifting competition in Florida.
Billy Gunn’s test apparently came up with a 37-1 testosterone/epitestosterone ratio, which is well above the 4-1 limit. Apparently WWE officials weren’t aware that Billy Gunn, real name Monty Sopp had been competing as a powerlifter or that he was banned from the sport four years ago up until recently.
Billy Gunn is best known as one half of the New Age Outlaws and he held the WWE World Tag Team Championships 11 times throughout his career with several different partners. Billy is also a former Intercontinental Champion, a former Hardcore Champion and the 1999 King of the Ring winner.
