Billy Corgan is best known as the frontman for The Smashing Pumpkins, but Corgan is also involved in the world of professional wrestling. Last year Corgan was involved in a part of Impact Wrestling, and after he invested money out of his own pocket and then he became the TNA President.
Things didn’t work out so well for Corgan, and after he parted ways with Impact Wrestling after he failed to take control of the company during their high profile legal battle. Corgan left, Dixie Carter stepped down, and now Impact Wrestling is run by Anthem.
However, Billy Corgan is not giving up on wrestling, as a matter of fact, it looks like he’s doubling down. PWInsider is now reporting that Billy Corgan has agreed in principle to purchase the National Wrestling Alliance. According to the report, the deal will see Corgan acquire the name, rights, and trademarks to the NWA along with the NWA Championship belt.
This is certainly an interesting turn of events, and no one seems to know what Billy Corgan plans to do with the NWA if and when the deal is finalized.
Former WWE and Impact Wrestling writer Dave Lagana also parted ways with Impact Wrestling shortly after Billy Corgan left, and he’s been working with Corgan on different projects. It’s possible that whatever Corgan is planning to do with the NWA, Lagana may end up getting involved as well.
