Mercedes Mone walked out of Monday Night Raw last year and for months it was rumored that she would be working with New Japan Pro Wrestling. She made her big NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 and over the weekend she defeated Kairi to become the new IWGP Women’s Champion.
Even though Mercedes Mone is currently working with NJPW she recently spoke to Alex McCarthy and clarified that she’s currently a free agent and can go wherever she wants to go.
“I’m as free as a bird. I’ve got the choice to decide anything that I want to do. Especially tomorrow when I win the IWGP Women’s Championship, I plan to take that title all over the world, not just New Japan. It’s about to be a global championship. So wherever that championship ends up, whether it be on United States TV, Japan TV, Mexico TV, Germany TV, anywhere all over the world is wherever I choose to make it happen. So whoever has the best bag, whoever writes the best cheque for Mercedes Mone, that’s where I might end up.”
When Merecedes Mone defeated Kairi at Battle in the Valley she became only the second woman to hold the IWGP Women’s Championship. Her former tag team partner Bayley was in the house for the event and CM Punk was also spotted in the crowd. Stay tuned for more updates on Mercedes Mone as they become available.
