Originally Jon Moxley was set to challenge Rey Fenix for the AEW International Championship on Dynamite this week. However, that match didn’t end up happening. Tony Khan announced that Jon Moxley has not been cleared following the concussion he suffered at AEW Grand Slam a few weeks ago. He said that Moxley is on a great track, but he won’t be competing tonight.
Tony Khan then said that Rey Fenix will still be defending the AEW International Championship tonight as Hook walked up with Orange Cassidy. Hook said it has to be Orange Cassidy challenging for the belt tonight because he never got a rematch. Tony Khan agreed and made Orange Cassidy vs. Rey Fenix official for Dynamite.
The match was short and concluded with Cassidy picking up the win. The end of the match came when Orange Cassidy hit Rey Fenix with the Orange Punch then pinned him with the Mouse Trap. After the match confetti rained down as Orange Cassidy stared at the AEW International Championship belt. Best Friends, Rocky Romero and Hook then came out to celebrate with Orange Cassidy as he walked to the back.
With his win over Rey Fenix on Dynamite this week Orange Cassidy has become the first ever two time AEW International Champion in company history. Stay tuned for more updates on Dynamite as they become available.
