It’s been a big week for WWE as the Raw premiere aired live from the Intuit Dome on Monday, and NXT New Year’s Evil emanated from the Shrine Expo Hall on Tuesday night.
The show kicked off in a big way as Roxanne Perez defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Giulia in the opening match. Perez and Giulia wasted no time taking the fight to one another as the action picked up immediately after the bell rang.
During the match Roxanne and Giulia were both on the ground at ringside as the referee was counting them out. Cora Jade appeared out of nowhere and threw Perez back into the ring.
Roxanne Perez connected with a sunset flip pin on Giulia, but she kicked out. Perez then locked in an armbar only for Giulia to shift her weight and roll Roxanne over for a pin. Perez kicked out at two then Giulia hit her with a knee to the face followed by a Northern Lights Bomb to win the NXT Women’s Championship.
