The stars of NXT brought the action to Houston, TX, on Saturday night at NXT Takeover: WarGames. The card was loaded, and Drew McIntyre defended his NXT Championship against Andrade “Cien” Almas, but Drew didn’t walk out with the belt.
Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Drew McIntyre to win the NXT Championship for the first time in his career.
After the show Triple H did his usual post-NXT Takeover interview with Cathy Kelley, and he revealed that Drew McIntyre may have torn a bicep during the title match. McIntyre is set to be evaluated and undergo a MRI, and if the injury is indeed a torn bicep then he will likely undergo surgery.
Drew McIntyre commented on the interview after the match and he said that he felt something go in his arm, and from his experience he knows that’s not good. He said he’s not making any excuses, and he’s going to wait and see what the doctor says.
Drew seemed understandably disappointed and noted that no matter what he will be back, and when he returns he will be going after the NXT Title.
McIntyre joined the NXT brand earlier this year, and he won the NXT Championship for the first time when he defeated Bobby Roode at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III.
