There has already been blood in this feud and there very well might be more because New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that the much-hyped match at Wrestle Kingdom 13 between Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship will now be contested under No DQ rules
This might sound like a stipulation made for The Bullet Club, but Chris Jericho’s new heel persona in New Japan is really pulling out all the stops in regards to how mean he can really get. He went as far to call someone a “f-ck face” at a recent press conference as well so the censor is certainly off as well. Therefore, who knows how far Y2J will go to make his point in NJPW?
In a rather surprising announcement, NJPW Chairman Naoko Sugabayashi made the proclamation which was detailed in the Instagram post below saying:
“Prior to today’s “Road to Tokyo Dome” show at Korakuen Hall, NJPW Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi held a press briefing, announcing that the scheduled U.S. Heavyweight Championship match of Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in Tokyo Dome on January 4th, will be contested under No Disqualification rules per request from both competitors.”
“The chairman also officially announced that the alleged ROH World Championship match of Cody Rhodes vs. Kota at the Dome will now indeed be labeled as a Special Single match since Rhodes lost the title to Dalton Castle at ROH “Final Battle” this past weekend.”

So when Chris Jericho says this match is the most anticipated match of the year in the pro wrestling business he might be correct. It’s also much easier to get away with saying that because this match will take place in January making it one of the biggest matches in the first part of the year anyway.
Only time will tell how brutal this encounter will get, but it’s likely to get pretty intense inside the Tokyo Dome.
