It has to be an exciting time to live in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area if you’re a professional wrestling fan. WWE recently announced that they will be holding the 2018 Royal Rumble at the Wells Fargo Center on January 28th, not only that, but Takeover will be taking place the day before on the 27th as well as Raw and Smackdown live broadcasts on the 29th and 30th from the same location.
Even more news has broken out of the City of Brotherly Love for wrestling fans today.
The 2300 Arena, formally known as the ECW arena announced that they have signed contracts with Ring of Honor and House of Hardcore to exclusively host professional wrestling events in their building.
In a press release sent out today, the 2300 Arena located at 2300 S Swanson Street in Philadelphia touted that they are excited to bring entertainment to fans for “years to come.”
Chief Operating Officer of ROH, Joe Koff said, “The 2300 Arena is one of the most storied and historic wrestling venues in the country. And the Philly fans, of course, are among the most passionate. We look forward to big ROH events there in 2017 and beyond.”
This deal will not affect the upcoming War of the Worlds television taping on May 14th which will feature New Japan, because it is also a joint venture with Ring of Honor.
The press release concluded by stating that fans should expect even more news of upcoming events scheduled to be held in the legendary Philly sanctuary of suplexes in the weeks to come.
