The new year has finally arrived and the stars of AEW went out with a bang when they stepped into the spotlight at the Worlds End pay-per-view over the weekend. MJF defended his AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe at the event, but unfortunately for MJF it was Samoa Joe who picked up the win and walked out with the belt.
After the match came to a conclusion MJF was attacked by the devil and his henchmen. After months of speculation Adam Cole was revealed to be the devil with Wardlow, Matt Taven, Mike Bennet and Roderick Strong acting as his masked men.
Following AEW Worlds End it was reported that MJF is expected to take some time off. For some time now MJF has been claiming that his contract with All Elite Wrestling is up next year as he’s hyped up the bidding war of 2024.
It’s worth noting that AEW has removed MJF from the roster page on their official website. At this point it’s not clear if MJF is legitimately done with the company for now, or if this is simply part of a storyline. While MJF has claimed that he has not signed a new AEW contract it’s been reported that some in WWE believe he quietly re-signed with the company.
Only time well tell what the future holds for MJF, but for now he is not featured on the official roster page on AEW’s website.
