A few weeks ago WWE announced that 10 talents had been released, and it was reported this week that two referees and several more NXT talents had been let go.
Now PWInsider is reporting that Velveteen Dream was released from his contract earlier today. Other talents were told that they were being let go due to budget cuts, but there’s currently no word on Dream’s release.
Velveteen Dream, real name Patrick Clark, signed with WWE after getting eliminated from the 2015 season of the Tough Enough reality show.
He went on to make his debut as Velveteen Dream in 2017, and he picked up some major momentum, leading to a NXT North American Championship win.
Velveteen Dream was accused of indecent behavior last year, and WWE looked into the accusations but no actions were taken. Dream last wrestled for NXT back in December of 2020, and it’s being reported that he had not been seen at the WWE Performance Center in some time.
It’s also being reported that he was backstage at Raw a few weeks ago but WWE had no plans to use him on the main roster.
