It’s been over a year since fans have seen Big E in the ring as he was taken out of action when he suffered a broken neck during an episode of SmackDown. There’s been no official word on whether or not Big E will be able to return to the ring at some point, but it looks like he’s making the most of his time away from WWE.
Recently Big E spoke with The Detroit News and he confirmed that he has signed on to become the emcee for the Michigan Panthers. Big E will emcee home games for the USFL team and he’s set to start his new gig on Sunday, April 30 at Ford Field.
“I am excited to join forces with the USFL and the Panthers as the team returns to Michigan. Detroit has some of the best fans in the world and I look forward to connecting with them at Ford Field.”
At this point in time there doesn’t appear to be a timetable for Big E’s potential return to the ring. The former WWE Champion recently shared an update on his status and noted that he still needs to sit down with the doctors and see what the next step could be for him.
“It’s just a complicated fracture. I broke my C1 and C2 in two places, a Jefferson fracture is what it’s called. It just takes a little more time to heal. We just did the one year scans after WrestleMania, it was a little later because of WrestleMania. We need to sit down with the doctors at some point and figure out what the next step is. From my perspective, I feel great, I have no function issues, no pain issues, I’ve been in the gym since two weeks after I broke my neck. I’m feeling great. Obviously, your neck has to be in a certain condition to deal with the rigors of being in the ring on a nightly basis.”
Stay tuned for more updates on Big E’s recovery as they become available.
