This week on Friday Night SmackDown fans saw Big E team up with Kofi Kingston to take on the team of Ridge Holland and Sheamus. Unfortunately for Big E he was taken out of the match due to injury after Ridge Holland hit him with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex outside the ring and he landed on his head.
Big E had to be stretchered out the arena, and it was later confirmed that he suffered a broken neck. The former WWE Champion has since provided an update on the situation and he noted that there’s no spinal cord damage, no ligament damage, and he will not need surgery.
“So, I got some really good news, uh, all things considered,” Big E begins. “The C1 and C6 are indeed fractured, not displacement though which is a very good thing. And I don’t have any damage to my spinal cord, no ligament damage, and no surgery which I’m very thankful for.
“And a pro tip: if you’re going to break your neck, do it in Birmingham. They’ve been great, everyone here at UAB has been great. But for real, it’s meant a ton to me that so many of you have been so kind and reached out, stopped in to see me, texted me. I know I sound like a broken record but I feel very grateful, and I’m going to be alright.”
Several members of the WWE roster, including Ridge Holland have reportedly visited Big E at the hospital. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
