Last year Kofi Kingston reached the top of the mountain when he defeated Daniel Bryan to become the new WWE Champion at WrestleMania 35.
During his championship reign Kofi Kingston took on all comers, but at no point did his New Day brothers Big E and Xavier Woods try to challenge him for the gold.
Big E recently spoke to The Sun about Kofi Kingston’s title run, and he explained why he didn’t want to ruin Kofi’s big moment.
“If that opportunity came up and it made sense, that’s a different consideration but at no point was I going to insert myself into this Kofi Mania run. It never crossed my mind and never would because I really feel like what we bring to the table as far as a real-life bond is very different from any other faction that I can think of or that I’ve heard of. We genuinely ride for each other, When the time is needed for one of us to take a step back for the others to shine, we do what’s best for the group, and that’s been the key to our success.”
Big E is currently embarking on a singles run, and it’s rumored that he could be getting a shot at the IC Title, so there’s no telling if gold might be in his future.
