Ryback has been keeping busy since he parted ways with WWE earlier this year. He’s been wrestling on the independent scene, he’s launched a podcast, he’s launched a website and he has some other projects in the works.
A few months ago Bellator MMA confirmed that they were talking to Ryback about possibly working with him, but nothing ever came of the talks. Bellator president Scott Coker recently spoke to Submission Radio, and he revealed why the two parties couldn’t agree on a deal.
“We did talk to him, and we just couldn’t put the deal together. So, if he wanted to come back and change his mind, but I think it’s easier for him to stay in some type of wrestling, and be an entertainer. I think it was just basically what the economics were. Sometimes a fighter or an athlete feels that they’re valued at a certain price, and sometimes we don’t feel that way.”
You can check out the full interview with Scott Coker below.
Speaking of Ryback, he recently did a Q&A with former WWE writer Kevin Eck, and Eck asked him if he’s interested in working with TNA or ROH, and you can see what he had to say below.
“Never say never, but I am doing very well financially not being on TV and not working with a contract. I’m booked every weekend pretty much through April at this point, and with the launch of my book and Feed Me More Nutrition, time is thin as it is. I also enjoy being able to control my persona and the perception of me rather than someone who doesn’t have my best interest at hand.”
He was also asked about possibly working with NJPW, and Ryback noted that he would be more open to working in Japan.
“I am more than open to going over there for two-to-three days here and there. Anything outside of that would be very difficult considering how hands-on I am with everything going on right now. “
